My mother made this a lot for me as a child and now I am making it for my kids. Okay Okay, in truth I make if for myself too! My whole family has fallen in love with this recipe. It is great to place in my husband lunches or to give to the kids as a snack.
The chewy peanut butter coating along with crunchy bits of cereal are heaven in your mouth! I like to use corn flakes for my crisps, but you can use any plain flavored cereal. Make this today and it will be gone by tomorrow!
That smile can only mean one thing! Yup, she loves it!
Peanut Butter Cereal Crisps
- 1 cup Karo (light corn syrup)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 6 cups cereal
Place a piece of waxed paper onto the counter or cookie sheet, set aside. Place the cereal into a large mixing bowl, set aside.
In a medium saucepan stir together the Karo, sugar, and peanut butter cooking over medium heat. Bring to a boil then remove from the heat. Immediately pout over the cereal and stir, stir, stir until coated well. Pour onto waxed paper, spread out with a wooded spoon. Allow the crisps to cool completely. Tear off chunks to serve. Enjoy!
You may also pour the coated cereal into a well greased 9 x 13 glass cake pan. Pressing down to to compact. Cool completely and cut into bars.
I am sooo glad you posted this recipe. I have wanted to post it on our blog, but lost the recipe, so I couldn't. Plus I was craving it a few weeks ago but couldn't remember how to make them.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm going to have to go buy some cornflakes. :)
